Why it caught on: it's the Jedi Temple scene in Revenge of the Sith (2005): a youngling in the Council chamber asks "Master Skywalker, there are too many of them, what are we going to do?", Anakin ignites his lightsaber, and the film cuts away. The fans didn't. Obi-Wan's "not even the younglings survived" turned it into a dark running joke for anyone trusting exactly the wrong person.
